Central Elgin.

Central Elgin is the Lake Erie north-shore township that wraps around the City of St. Thomas — anchored by the harbour-and-beach village of Port Stanley at the mouth of Kettle Creek, with the inland Quaker heritage village of Sparta and the rural communities of Belmont, Lynhurst, and Union filling out the township.

Port Stanley is the centre of gravity: a working Lake Erie fishing harbour, a deep sand beach with a Blue Flag certification and lifeguards in season, and the lake-end terminus of the Port Stanley Terminal Rail heritage line that runs north to St. Thomas on the former London & Port Stanley right-of-way.

Just east of the harbour, the Lake Erie north shore lifts into the bluffs at Hawk Cliff — a documented fall raptor migration concentration point along the Lake Erie corridor, with an annual Hawk Cliff Weekend in mid-September. Inland, Kettle Creek Conservation Authority manages Springwater Forest, Dan Patterson, and Lake Margaret as Carolinian forest and quiet-water properties along the creek.

Central Elgin lies within Mississaugas of the Credit treaty territory under the Between the Lakes Treaty No. 3 (1792), with the Chippewas of the Thames adjacent. A short drive south of London via the Sunset Drive corridor, a couple of hours from Toronto on the major southwestern Ontario highway corridor.
