Waterfront bike, paddle and sail rentals in downtown Kingston, on the St. Lawrence at the foot of the Rideau Canal

Ahoy Rentals
01 — About

The brief.

Ahoy Rentals is an owner-operated waterfront rental and instruction outfit at 21 Ontario Street in Kingston, a ten-minute walk from downtown at the mouth of the Rideau Canal where it meets the St. Lawrence River. Operating since 1997 under Andrew Kelm, the shop rents bikes, kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, canoes, and sailboats from one waterfront base — with safety equipment, HST, and on-site staff help with launching included in every paddle and sail rental. The 2026 rental season runs May 16 to October 4; guided Kingston bike tours run April through November on nine routes covering Queen's, RMC, Fort Henry, the Inner Harbour, and the Waaban Loop. Lessons cover kayak, canoe, SUP, and one- or two-person sailing.
