Grand River Rocks Climbing Gym.
Indoor rock climbing and bouldering gym with two Kitchener-Waterloo facilities — full-service ropes in Kitchener, bouldering-only in Waterloo, since 2011
The brief.
Grand River Rocks Climbing Gym is a commercial indoor climbing gym operating two Kitchener-Waterloo facilities. The Kitchener location at 264 Victoria Street North offers top-rope, lead, auto-belay, and bouldering across walls 14.4 to 25.4 feet tall, plus a Go Bananas kid area, gear shop, spray wall, and training floor; the Waterloo location at 80 Lodge Street is a bouldering-only facility with a moon board, campus boards, and training area. Founded in August 2011 by Josh Tuffin, Christoff Le Roux, Mike Cieplak, and Scott Hamill, the gym expanded in 2013, opened its Waterloo bouldering room in December 2019, and relocated the Kitchener facility to Victoria Street in June 2024. Programs run from a toddler day pass through Lead-certification courses, competition leagues, and rental crash pads for outdoor bouldering.
