The brief.

Greig's Caves sits on the Bruce Peninsula near Lion's Head, on land the Greig family has held since Charles Greig bought 200 acres in 1926. The caves opened to the public in the 1960s at $1 per vehicle, and the property has stayed in the family across generations; current operators Don and Lisa bought back the original front acreage in 2010. Ten of the original twelve caves are accessible on a self-guided trail through rocky, uneven terrain shaped by the Niagara Escarpment. Portions of the 1981 film Quest for Fire and the 2013 film Against the Wild were shot on site. Visits run roughly two hours and include picnic access.

    Self-guided cave and trail visit

    For: Hikers and families comfortable on rocky, uneven terrain with steep sectionsWhen: Opens Saturday, May 9, 2026; seasonal through October

    Visitors explore ten accessible caves along a self-guided trail through the Niagara Escarpment. Closed-toed shoes or hiking boots are mandatory. No reservations needed; all-day admission and picnicking are included. Plan about two hours on site.

    Adults $15.00, ages 3–12 $7.50, under 2 free; cash only, HST included
