Hooked Up with Terhart
01 — About

The brief.

Hooked Up with Terhart is Captain Paul Terhart's commercial fishing charter operating out of Parry Sound, Ontario, running guided trips across the 30,000 Islands of Georgian Bay and the deep water of "Big Sound." Terhart holds SVOP, SDV-BS, and PCOC certifications and brings 36 years on the water, including tournament bass and walleye competition from 1987 through 2010. The boat is a 2023 Pathfinder 2500 Hybrid Tower with a 400HP Mercury, Tournament Cannon Downriggers, and full Garmin Live Scope electronics. Trips run a maximum of three anglers — trophy smallmouth bass and multi-species charters from late June through October, salmon and trout into September, and run-and-gun ice fishing from January through March.

    Trophy Smallmouth Bass

For: Anglers, max 3 per tripWhen: 4th Saturday in June – October 30

Sight-fishing for smallmouth in the 4–6 lb class around remote shoals and islands in the 30,000 Islands archipelago, with realistic shots at 7 lb fish. Techniques rotate through hair jigs, drop shots, swim baits, tube jigs, ned rigs, senkos, jerk baits, and topwater depending on conditions. A strict no-kill policy is enforced — fish are measured and photographed for replica mounts before release.

    Multi Species Trip

For: Anglers, max 3 per tripWhen: Mid June – October 30

A mixed-species charter targeting smallmouth bass, walleye, and pike across the same 30,000 Islands water, with the day's emphasis adjusted to the season and conditions. No-kill policy applies to trophy fish; the guide cleans keeper catch at the end of the day. Three-angler maximum keeps the boat workable for the rotating-species format.

  3. 03

    Straight Up Salmon

For: Anglers, max 3 per tripWhen: Mid June – September 15

A six-hour Chinook salmon charter on Georgian Bay, running either a morning slot (6am–12pm) or an afternoon slot (4pm–10pm). Controlled-depth trolling and downrigging produce Chinook in the 2–15 lb range, with fish over 20 lbs regularly in the mix. Provincial limits on retention apply; the guide cleans catch on return.

    $900 (plus HST)

  4. 04

    Lake & Rainbow Trout

For: Anglers, max 3 per tripWhen: Mid June – September 30

Lake trout and rainbow trout charters in the 350+ ft depths of Parry Sound's "Big Sound," with the route passing the well-known "Hole in the Wall" scenic passage. Trolling, jigging, and casting techniques are used depending on water column and conditions. Strict provincial limits apply; the guide cleans keeper catch.

Live bait and jigging techniques. Provincial limits apply; guide cleans catch.
