The brief.
Based in the Jordan Harbour Conservation Area near Vineland, Ontario, the Niagara Rowing School & Paddlesports Centre is a recreational rowing club associated with the Ontario Adventure Rowing Association, Row Ontario and Rowing Canada. It runs a Learn-to-Row sculling program in single, double and quadruple sculls, plus private and semi-private sculling lessons. The centre rents kayaks, canoes and stand-up paddleboards to the public for paddling along Jordan Harbour's shoreline, under the QEW and main-line train bridges, and out onto Lake Ontario. It also offers weekly youth summer camps for ages 8 to 15 covering canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding and dragon boating, plus corporate team-building events and picnics for groups of 2 to 200.

For: All agesRent a kayak, canoe or stand-up paddleboard to explore the Jordan Harbour shoreline, reed islands and the train bridge, with the option to paddle out onto Lake Ontario. Available daily by reservation 7:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. Paddles and a mandatory PFD included.

Learn-to-Row
For: All agesWhen: MayAn eight-session introduction to sculling held Tuesday and Thursday evenings through May. Participants learn safety, stroke fundamentals, equipment care and basic maneuvers, rowing single, double and quadruple sculls under experienced coaches, with weather makeup sessions provided.

For: Ages 8–15When: July–AugustWeekly Monday-to-Friday camps (8:30 a.m.–noon) introducing kids to canoeing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, dragon boating and rowing. Each day starts with water-safety instruction; 5:1 student-to-counsellor ratio, capped at 20 students per session.
