Stonehouse Stables is a family-owned hunter/jumper barn operating since 1996 in Upper James City County, Virginia, near Colonial Williamsburg and accessible via I-64. Lead instructor Tara Mathews Best became a certified USHJA Instructor in 2025 and teaches English Hunt Seat Equitation focused on correct position. The program competes under USEF, USHJA, and VHSA. Facilities include 12x12 wood-lined stalls with Nelson feeders and Behlen heated waterers, indoor and outdoor wash stalls, a heated/cooled rider's lounge, three large fields, and seven paddocks. Weekly veterinary service is provided by Virginia Equine of Manakin-Sabot.     Boarder Lessons

    Riding School Program

    For: Riders age 7 and up leasing school horses

    Boarding

    For: Horse owners

    Full-care monthly board covering stall, bedding and cleaning, hay, grain, pasture turnout, blanketing, and worming. Optional private or semi-private paddocks. A November–March hay surcharge and grooming services (bathing, clipping, mane pulling) apply separately.
