The brief.
Stratford Axes is a licensed axe-throwing venue at 439 Erie Street in Stratford, Ontario. Coaches run every booking from start to finish — opening with range safety and throwing fundamentals before turning the lanes over for scored games. Sessions are sold by the hour at per-person rates, with a discounted group rate for parties of 20 or more, and the venue handles birthday parties, staff parties, bachelor and bachelorette parties, and team-building events under the same coach-led format. A licensed bar pours craft beer, domestic beer, coolers, and spirits; outside food is welcome but outside drinks are not. A Mixed Rec League runs Thursday nights in fall, winter, and spring for throwers of any age and ability.

For: All experience levels; close-toed shoes required; minors need a parental/guardian-signed waiverWhen: Year-round by reservation; walk-ins accommodated when lanes are freeCoach-facilitated from the first throw — range safety and throwing fundamentals are taught before scoring starts. Sessions of 1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, or 3 hours are bookable, with 2 hours as the typical length. Scoring runs bullseye 6 / rings 4-3-2-1 / blue ball 10 (or 1, depending on the game). The licensed bar is open during sessions and cash, debit, and credit are accepted at the door.

For: Private groups — birthdays, staff parties, bachelor and bachelorette parties, corporate team-buildingWhen: Year-round by reservationA coach runs the whole booking, from the safety brief to the closing scored game, so the host does not have to manage the lane. Outside food is permitted if guests bring their own plates, cutlery, and napkins; outside beverages are not, since the on-site bar is licensed. Gift cards are available for hosts buying ahead. Reservations are required for group bookings.

Mixed Rec League
For: All skill levels and ages; the sign-up form's age categories start at "18 or under"When: Fall, winter, and spring seasons; every Thursday, 7:00–9:00 PM; 8 weeks per seasonA mixed-age, mixed-ability throwing league. Each Thursday opens with warm-ups and moves into competitive scored games — no prior experience required. Space is limited each season; the online sign-up form is followed up by a phone call from the venue to arrange the deposit.
