The brief.
Trail Tours is an off-road riding school operating near the Ganaraska Forest in the Kawartha Lakes region of Ontario, about 25 minutes south of Peterborough and an hour east of Toronto. Riders meet at the Porter Road and Highway 115 carpool, between Pontypool and Millbrook. The school runs on a fleet of Honda dirt bikes (50cc to 250cc), ATVs, trials bikes, and a limited number of dual-sport machines across 200 acres with 20 km of private trails. Programs group riders by skill, from beginner through expert, and bookings cover bike or ATV rental, instruction, full safety gear, fuel, and liability insurance. Children start at age 7 on dirt bikes; ATV programs require riders 16 and up. The school has hosted clinics led by riders including Shane Watts, Chris Birch, and David Knight.

Dirt Bike Training — Half Day
For: Ages 7+; beginners through expert (must ride a bicycle without training wheels)When: May 1 – October 31A morning or afternoon session covering clutch, braking, gear changes, balance, slow-speed control, and turning, with riders grouped by skill level and curriculum adjusted by continuous assessment. Includes Honda bike rental, instruction, full safety gear, fuel, and liability insurance. Half-day sessions are recommended for ages 7–10.

For: Ages 7+; beginners through expertWhen: May 1 – October 31A full day combining morning and afternoon sessions with a lunch break, for riders who want more saddle time after the fundamentals. Same skill-grouped instruction on Honda dirt bikes, with rental, gear, fuel, and liability insurance included. Riders bring their own lunch and water as there is no on-site food service.
