Drop-in guided nature, astronomy, and Indigenous-knowledge workshops at an accessible South Algonquin campus

Wild Company
01 — About

The brief.

Wild Company runs accessible leisure-learning experiences at the Four Corners Algonquin campus on Highway 60 in Whitney, Ontario, at the edge of South Algonquin. Most offerings are drop-in workshops and guided walks lasting one to three hours, designed for all ages and abilities. Programming spans astronomy (Perseids meteor tours, partial-eclipse viewing, backyard-astronomy basics led by guides including Gary Boyle), Indigenous knowledge sessions such as Night Visioning with Elder Jane Chartrand and Medicine Walks, forest bathing with Marilyn Zehr, and shore-fishing instruction at the Whitney Trestle Bridge. Self-guided options include stargazing, trail hiking, cycling, and water sports. The enterprise was created by Angela Pollak, MA, MLIS, PhD, who chairs Ontario's David C. Onley Award for Leadership in Accessibility Committee.
