Scenic Caves Nature Adventures.

Self-guided cave system, 420-foot suspension bridge, and 27 km Nordic Centre on the Niagara Escarpment near Collingwood

01 — About

The brief.

Scenic Caves Nature Adventures is a 370-acre nature park on the Niagara Escarpment in Blue Mountains, Ontario, within one of Canada's eighteen UNESCO biosphere sites. The site centres on a self-guided system of seventeen glacial caves and caverns, a 420-foot suspension footbridge — southern Ontario's longest — strung 82 feet above the forest floor with 360-degree views of south Georgian Bay, and 15 km of warm-season trails through a 200-year-old forest. In winter the property converts to the Scenic Caves Nordic Centre, with 27 km of daily-groomed cross-country trails (classic and skate), a 12 km snowshoe network, guided night snowshoe hikes, and a one-hour relaxation sauna. The warm season runs May through October; the Nordic Centre runs through winter and into early April.

    Caves & Caverns

For: All ages; self-guided; hiking or running shoes requiredWhen: May through October

The activity that originally put the park on the map. Visitors descend roughly 70 feet into a crevasse system carved by glacial ice and follow a self-guided trail through seventeen geological formations, with limestone-cliff lookouts onto south Georgian Bay. The site sits on land once inhabited by the Petun First Nations and falls within one of Canada's eighteen UNESCO biosphere reserves. Allow at least two hours.

  2. 02

    Suspension Bridge

For: All ages; hiking or running shoes required in warm seasonWhen: Warm season — May through October; winter access via the snowshoe pass

At 420 feet long and 82 feet above the forest floor, the suspension footbridge is southern Ontario's longest and the headline view-point on the property — 360-degree sightlines across south Georgian Bay and the Niagara Escarpment. In winter, the bridge is part of the snowshoe trail network, accessible to anyone holding a Nordic Centre day pass.

  3. 03

    Hiking Trails & Lookouts

For: All ages; mixed-difficulty networkWhen: May through October

15 kilometres of marked trails across 370 acres of escarpment forest, ranging from family-friendly loops to advanced climbs through 200-year-old maple, beech, and oak. Multiple lookout platforms tie the trail system to the suspension bridge and the Caves & Caverns route, so a single park admission can support a full half-day on foot.
